Final blogging assessment

1.
A specific phrase I use to demonstrate a writing voice is, “…if you love sports (like myself)” (King). This shows my voice because it shows that I am having side thoughts throughout my writing and I use parentheses to show that. Another time I use parentheses is “…on the edge of your seat while reading! (Not really but it keeps you interested)” (King). This shows how I can be sarcastic when I write which I fell makes you more interesting to read. Another good sign of voice in my writing is, “…I still believe you could enjoy this book!” (King). This quote shows that I am excited about this book. I do this through the use of the exclamation point.

2.
I believe that the use of informal diction in my writing enhances my voice. It shows how I am not too sophisticated and pretty laid back as a writer. A good example of this is,” It involves many twists and turns which keep you on the edge of your seat” (King). In this sentence, I use terms such as ‘twists and turns’ and ‘edge of your seat’. These are both pretty informal terms and not very sophisticated. An example of syntax in which I use is exclamation points. “Even if you don't like basketball or sports in general, I still believe you could enjoy this book! It involves many twists and turns which keep you on the edge of your seat while reading!” (King). Just in these 2 sentences alone, I have used 2 exclamation points. I also use a variety of sentence lengths. A short sentence I used, also very informal, was, “It’s a great book!” (King).

Book Review

Although I haven't completely finished my book yet, I would like To give a book review on Miracle On 49th Street. I have really enjoyed this book a lot. It keeps you on the edge of your seat and you never know what is going to happen next. The story starts with Molly, the protagonist, going to look for her celebrity of a dad, who doesn't know he is her dad. He denies the fact that he is the father of this 'random' girl. I don't want to spoil it so I will stop there. Overall, so far at least, I would give this book a 4.5 star rating. This is because I have enjoyed reading it, however it is not like the best bookie ever read. I encourage people who love sports to read this book because it has to do with a pro basketball player (forgot to mention that earlier). Also, just anybody who enjoys suspense and action books should definitely read this!

Prediction for rest of book

My book, Miracle on 49th Street, is getting very interesting! The girl Molly is such a well put-together character. Mike Lupica does a great job of describing her and makes the readers feel like they know her. Next in the story, I predict Molly will FINALLY convince Josh Cameron that she is his daughter. She's been trying all story but Josh isn't buying it. I believe that Josh will somehow meet up with Molly's mom and find out that they were once married. Just a prediction, but I'm really excited for the rest if this story to play out! Can't wait!

Book Recommendation

I highly recommend the book Miracle on 49th Street. It's a great book! You will especially love it if you love sports (like myself). The main sport involved is basketball. Even if you don't like basketball or sports in general, I still believe you could enjoy this book! It involves many twists and turns which keep you on the edge of your seat while reading! (Not really but it keeps you interested). If you are a fan of realistic fiction, you will really like this book. It is by a great author who really knows a lot about sports. Mike Lupica writes many other sports books but I especially recommend Miracle on 49th Street.

Best/Worst parts about my book

I have been getting pretty far into my book "Miracle on 49th Street". So far, it's been really good! In my opinion, the best part of the book is that you never know what is going to happen next. Molly is very curious and is not afraid to go and cause some trouble. It is also very good how she keeps trying and trying to convinve Josh Cameron that she is his daughter. I predict that later in the story, Josh will not be so stubborn and finally accept the fact that she is his daughter. The worst part and best part kind of go hand in hand in this story. It also gets a little bit boring and repetitive. Most of the book is just Molly trying different ways to convince Josh she is his kid.

Character Prompt

For this post, I am going to answer the question "are any characters in your book comparable to characters in other books/movies or in real life?" The first comparison I have found is that Josh Cameron is very similar to a character in "The Gameplan". They both have the same story because there is a young girl who claims to be their daughter. Also, Molly, a character in the story can be compared to many others as well as people in real life. I feel that many people are very curious and adventurous just like her.  One specific character is the little girl from the movie "The Gameplan".
